The poker scene is Goa is picking up, only casino royale offers holdem.. the casino is opne from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM.. u can definitely find a game there.. however not too many players, 1-2 tables runnin at the most.. casino royale is on a ship n u need to get on a speedboat which u have to board from panjim city.. the best hotel nearby is Marriott n these guys offer a free pick n drop from the hotel.. the game is 10k min buyin, blinds 100/200 NLHE.. the game normally picks up arnd 11:00PM n goes on till 8 in d morning.. at the end the players generally raise the stakes to 500/1000 if everyone agrees.. all in all its good fun..
We have spoken to hotels etc but we need more participants to make this event into a big one. Otherwise, it may not be economically viable.

Can anyone on this forum shed some light on the general poker scene in Goa. If I were to plan a 2-3 days visit (maybe a weekend getway), can I just show up in Goa anytime and count on finding a game that runs thru the whole day/night? If yes, please share the game/casino details and what's the closest place to stay. Primary purpose being Poker and not touristy things - any place that gives max flexibility to catch a game without being heavy on pocket!

Jim, I am interested in playing in these Sep events; but to be able to plan my travel etc - it will help to know the whole finalized schedule / event venue and all the other details such as preferred hotel rates/arrangements right now. Earlier you freeze those aspects - the more time the players will get to plan their trip.

Raj, i agree with you, however, we are going to wait till mid August to get a feel of the response. We have to spread the word about the IPRT event in Sep 09 and get members interested to participate. We would like all of us to invite friends to the event.Raj wrote:Jim, I am interested in playing in these Sep events; but to be able to plan my travel etc - it will help to know the whole finalized schedule / event venue and all the other details such as preferred hotel rates/arrangements right now. Jim... Can you at least confirm which week are you looking at? Is it Sep 19-27 or Sep 25-Oct 4. I want to plan time off from work and start making bookings!
