The IPRT qualification process varies depending on the state registered to your IPRT Membership account. If you are from one of the states other than Goa and Sikkim, the qualification options limited to you will differ.
For Overseas players (Non Indian Citizen Residents or Non Resident Indians - NRI’s) see the India International Poker Team Qualifying page.
For everyone else, see below to find out what you need to do to represent India, your State/Region for Qualifying for Poker Team India or one of the Regional or State Poker Teams.
POKER TEAM INDIA
Poker Team India will consist of 5 players – 3 thru an elimination process and 2 thru nomination of the All India Top 2 Leader Board rankers of that Season.
REGIONAL TEAMS
Regional Poker Team 1 – North India Region
Regional Poker Team 2 – South India Region
Regional Poker Team 3 – West India Region
Regional Poker Team 4 – East India Region
Regional poker Team 5 – Central India Region
India International Team A – Non Indian Citizen Residents and Non Resident Indians (NRI’s)
STATE TEAMS
Every State in India will have a State Poker Team
The India International Poker Team will form a hypothetical extra State and will have different set of guidelines/rules and process of Selection.
Important Note:
Poker is not a team game. It is strictly an individual game, so even though we call it teams, every player will be playing for himself/herself, to get a place in the State/Regional/India Team. Any form of colluding or cheating, will disqualify the player and even get his/her membership cancelled for life.
Keep in mind, it is your individual points that will get you on any team and not a cumulative total points of all members of your team.
IPRT has structured the system in this unique way.
Indian Citizens Resident in India
The top 100 Leader Board ranking players from every State will be selected (excluding the top two All India Leader Board rankers who may be from any State, as they will be directly nominated to “Poker Team India”) to Intra-State Playoffs in Goa for selection of 5 players for their State Team.
The State Teams will have Inter-State Decider tournaments in Goa for Selection of the Regional Teams which will comprise of top 5 players.
The Regional Teams will have 2 Inter-Region Deciders in Goa to select Top 3 players for “Poker Team India”
Poker Team India will consist of 5 players – 3 thru an elimination process and 2 thru nomination of the All India Top 2 Leader Board rankers of that Season.

NOTE:
All the players selected thru playoffs and deciders will be by an elimination process, ie, tournaments, thus last players standing on the final tables will be top placers. They will be awarded points as per the Leader Board ranking system (Highest Points earned will be Highest Ranked). The points earned at these elimination tournaments will be used, if necessary, for deciding any tie-offs at future games of the Season.
STAGE I
Every State will have a team of five players representing them, as determined by Stage I of qualifying to the Regional Deciders. Each Regional Team will have 5 players decided from Inter-State playoffs.
Two places on the Poker Team India, which comprises of 5 players, are automatically awarded to the country’s top two Tournament Leader Board (TLB) players, and the other three spots will go to the top two players determined by the National Team Decider Tournaments.
Tournament Leader Board qualifiers
The top two All India Tournament Leader Board players from January 1 thru December 31, each year (IPRT SEASON), from all States will automatically qualify as Poker Team India players.
Each player who qualifies for one of these coveted spots will receive an e-mail from iprtleague@pokertourindia.com. Players must reply to this e-mail as per deadlines and let IPRT know whether they wish to play for their country. If a TLB qualifier is unable to play, the next highest TLB player will be offered the spot.
Please Note:
1. Players who qualify automatically through TLB positions, are not eligible to play in any of the National Team Decider Qualifier Tournaments.
2. The second place finishers in these tournaments will be the alternate players for their State Team. Should one of the team members be unavailable, then an alternate team member will play in their place.
STAGE II - Regional Play-offs
Once the State Teams have been decided, they will advance to the Regional Play-offs. Here, the five player State squads will battle against other State Teams from their Region in a series of Play-off Tournaments. The top 5 players from these Play-offs will form a 5 player Regional Squad. These Regional Teams will then advance to Stage III.
This will be an invite to play at the live Grand Final for three seats to Poker Team India and a share of the prize pool, along with India Cup awards to each of the five players (in order – India Cup, 1st to 4th Runner-Ups).
STAGE III - Live Grand Final
The winning players (Top Pointers) from each of the Regional Play-offs in Stage II will win prize packages that include travel expenses and accommodation - to play live in the India Cup Tour Series of Poker Grand Final, to be held in Goa, Sikkim or any International venue overseas. There, the teams will compete in a televised/broadcast tournament in front of a live audience to determine the India Cup Champions and the final “Poker Team India” squad.
