Hi Admin ....Was wondering if you guys had any plan to move to court to legalize poker in India . I am sure you have some legal precedents and can rally support for this cause .Hence was wondering if you have any such plans and if so ......would you like to share these with us all ? How feasible is a legal court case for this cause ?

Ace, we will all move together in good time. New precedents are being made world wide in court judgements related to poker. That is going to help poker globally. In India, i believe, we are better than many other countries becos gaming is not totally prohibited. There are laws which we will need to respect and at the right time address it. We will need a strong voice and that converts to strong membership base. I can already see that in a few years things will be different. I will put up a post talking a little about it. Let me know what you guys feel.IndianpokerAce wrote:Hi Admin ....Was wondering if you guys had any plan to move to court to legalize poker in India . Now we are restricted to Goa and let us all make the most of it. Simultaneously, we will progress and soon poker is going to be accepted as a game more of skill than luck.

I think for this some feelers need to be set out through contacts and see what the response is.
if Rummy can be legally allowed to be gambled on, Poker cant be too far behind.

anything in a form of tournament at a designated place can be legal.
it could be like any other sport for e.g. snooker or pool. we give an entrance fees and if win then claim the cash prize.
rather going as a gamble or play directly, why can't it be declared as a proper tournament with entrance fees and prize money.
in all clubs across India rummy is legal and people have modified it as per their needs.
Flash or teen patti has no written rules so far but Poker does have; it can be catered as legal to play in clubs.
i do not know how admin will take it up with Govt. but there are fair amount of people supporting and justified reasoning is also there...i feel so

the key fact is that pool and snooker are regarded as games of skill and therefore legal. and so is rummy regarded as a game of skill. of poker was not a game of chance but a game of skill then there would be no problem at all. the key thing is to get poker recognised in india as a game of skill and not chance..

The best way to advertise and lobby for the game and get people interested in India is Bollywood!!! One hindi version of Rounders is all you need and it can explode!

IPRT will be holding a celebrities tournament in Dec 09. Final table of all the tourneys will be allowed to participate.
By the way, our dear Shammi Kapoor is an avid poker player and there are many others in tinsel town.
